Balance Bikes

Balance Bike training, educating children through physical activity

Balance bikes involve entertainment, but also educate the youngest children as first time riders. The bikes are great helpers when it comes to introducing basic traffic rules, using caution, and developing situational awareness.

These small and pedal-free bikes are taking over from training wheels!

Our aim is to provide children under 5 the skill and confidence to easily transition to a pedal bike. We want to take away the hard work out of teaching children how to ride a bike in a fun environment with the support of our passionate and supportive Play leader, Tracey.

Get ready for fun, interactive and challenging sessions.

We use Buster bikes as they are from high quality materials, and have so many benefits.

  1. They’re easy to use
Balance bikes allow kids to use their feet to stop, steer and turn around, giving them more control, as well as the confidence to carry on riding.
  2. They build strength and coordination
Balance isn’t the only useful thing your child will learn from one of these bikes. The design of a balance bike encourages kids to use their arms and lift their legs when moving forward. This not only helps them to build up their strength, but it also helps them to fine-tune their motor skills, coordination and agility.
  3. They’re a safer way to start riding
The seat of a balance bike is a lot closer to the ground than on a regular bike. If your little one does fall …they won’t have far to go. Plus, a balance bike can only go as fast as your child can push, which means you won’t have to worry about any high-speed crashes!
  4. They make exercise fun
Riding a bike is not only a lot of fun – it’s a great way to get kids moving. The earlier you encourage your child to start exercising, the more likely they will develop healthy habits for life.
  5. They’re convenient for parents
The compact design of balance bikes makes them easy to transport. They’re small enough to pop on the back seat of the car and light enough to pick up and carry home if your child gets tired of riding.
  6. They let you skip the training wheels
Balance bikes take the hard work out of teaching your child how to ride. Once your child has learnt how to balance, they’ll soon be able to progress to a regular bike without the need for training wheels. Once they’ve mastered their balance bike, they’ll be itching to ride with the ‘big kids’ in no time!

It’s a must that adults join in with the fun, your engagement with young ones is key!

As part of the session, the soft play area is opened exclusively to use at your leisure, with other children on the session.

*For this session we promote road and individuals safety and advise/ ask participants to bring a riding helmet to take part.*
